Brand Design FAQs - Brand design is important here is some of my knowledge on how it works

What are branding guidelines?

Brand identity guidelines are a comprehensive booklet of instructions that explain how a brand should be used. Imagine that the Apple logo looked completely different everywhere you saw it. There would be no way of making an instant connection in consumers minds between the logo and the brand story & promise.

Apart from the brand guidelines book which sets the rules on your brand and instructions on how to use the files, fonts and colours.  Brand guidelines include: the font files, a colour palette that has the colour codes, your logo in jpeg in web sizes, ready to go and also in Vector files for print, graphics if your brand has them and instagram story highlights icons.

I want the font used in my logo as my heading font?

In my opinion when the font is used in your branding as a header font it dilutes your branding and the strength of your logo. A logo should be saved as a PNG file so it is always the same. Your designer will save your logo in PNG and Vector files you will not receive the font for your logo because this would take away from the strength of your brand.

When a logo is created most designers use a font that is then edited by making it smoother and spaced 100% perfectly which then makes it unique to you and your brand.

What files will I get?

The files most designers includes are the fonts, graphics, brand book, icons, background and logos supplied in all the various formats you will need. Along with a summary of the best use for file formats. Below is a little summary of the different types of files and what they are used for,

Vectors - PDF, Eps and Ai files – this file type is industry standard ‘vector’ format for supply to printers, signage companies and screen printers/embroiderers. Vector files and can be blown up to enormous sizes without loss of quality. (You won’t be able to open the Ai files yourself unless you have Adobe Illustrator which was used to create it).

PNG files – have transparent bases and can be placed on coloured or image backgrounds.

JPEG files – are flattened onto a white base, therefore need to be used on white.

We advise for print versions, use the vector file (any of the formats from the vector folder).

And for all web/digital use, PNG’s have really good quality resolution.

I just want a logo?

If you just have a logo - I am sorry but I can’t work with you to create your brand - Your font, your colours and your graphics speak for your brand it makes it an experience.
